Some of you may find this of interest: As I've gone along in this endeavor, I've found that I really prefer to have the person/ people that I am drawing right there in front of me, as I draw their energy. Although I can easily remember what a person's aura looks like without them being there and I can draw it from that memory, the results are not satisfying to me at all. The artwork ends up looking cartoon-ish to me, and it lacks the detail and vibrancy that I get when I use a live model. I don't know for sure if this is the same kind of thing that other artists run into. I know that many have told me that they agree that there is something lacking in their work when it's done from memory or imagination, rather than from life, or at least doing detailed sketches or preliminary paintings with the model there. I know that many artists don't need a model, but in order to capture the detail and intricacy -- and the dominant re-occurring patterns in a person's energy, I need them in front of me.
