I think the shape of a crystal skull is significant, but not just because it reminds people of their own mortality. There is something going on with the way that people interact with crystal skulls that is consistent, from country to country around the world. In this day and age, people tend
to be afraid of skulls as a symbol of death. But in the not so distant past,
they were something else. They were a symbol to help us to remember how short
life is. How we should cherish it and not waste it. Sure, in this day and age a patient person can fake just about anything. All I really know is what I have experienced myself and even then I am reserving judgment on what is really happening. Still, it is interesting how many people that don't know each other experience similar things. I have taken a few photos with strange
things in them myself -- and I KNOW I didn't fake them. I can't 100%
rule out stray reflections and such, but I have some experience with
photographing reflective materials, having taken hundreds of thousands of photographs of
glass enamel artwork and crystals for web sites and catalogs. Glass and
polished stone is very
difficult to photograph because of the reflections. I learned some tricks
to reduce reflections,
and I use those tricks to get photos of the crystal skulls. After
having done what I could to minimize those effects it's
really weird to see an image appear. I think it's especially interesting when it
only shows up in one or two photos out of a series of
maybe 15 or 20, taken from the same angle and with the same lighting or lack
thereof. I like the book "Holy Ice"
which is
now out of print, but if you can find a copy, buy it or borrow it and read
it. He goes into an explanation of why people see images in crystal
skulls that makes as much or more sense as others I've read. The
theory hinges on the curved shape of the inside, back of the skull and the curve
of the eye sockets. Perhaps with an active matrix quartz crystal, the
crystal acts as an amplifier and the curved eyes and inside of the skull
acts like a screen the images can be projected on. What is being
amplified?
Quartz has long been used to direct and amplify thoughts and intentions, because all thoughts are a form of energy and intentions shape and effect subtle energy. Because of this, it is useful for healing work, meditation, protection, and manifesting and channeling. Quartz has long been thought to store and retrieve information of all types. Information is just another form of an energy pattern. Quartz is held on the third eye chakra for increased clarity of psychic vision, and has often been used to perceive and commune with spirits and other worlds, often used for astral travel, scrying, channeling, dream recall and dream work. Quartz has long been thought to counteract black magic and protect from negative energy on all levels.
Crystal skulls are tools of awareness and they can: Focus Energy Reflect Energy Refract Energy Amplify Energy Attune Energy Transmit Energy Transform Energy Store Energy
Hindu Astrology
assigns Rock Crystal (Quartz) as a secondary gem of Taurus and Libra. Quartz is the traditional gift for a 15th Wedding Anniversary.
Here is one theory of how a crystal and crystal skull, in particular, works: The person who wishes to work with a crystal or skull holds it firmly in the right hand or both hands) keeping the thought of what they wish to work with in mind. The crystal receives the energies via the physical body of the person holding it, absorbs the vibrations, then amplifies them and re-broadcasts them outwards. These amplifications are received by the chakra (or receptors) in the left hand and relayed up the arm, to the brain, to a gland called the hypothalamus and or the limbic system, impressing the vibrations on the sub-conscious mind. The energy continues on, moving down to the right hand, holding the crystal. The process continues in a loop, reinforcing itself. The skull shape is thought to be especially effective in this process, as the inside back of the skull acts as a kind of satellite dish, to broadcast the vibrations of the person using it.
