The most important purposes in having the ability to communicate with your Guardian angel are: to experience unconditional love and the joy of the Light of God in your life; to grow Spiritually and to understand yourself and your life's purpose better to empower yourself. It is not just to experience psychic phenomena or to be dramatic. PERSONAL NOTE: I can communicate
with angels and other "Beings," I can share dreams with people, and
experience a variety of psychic phenomena. I was born this way, and I
have spent countless hours practicing and developing clarity. I am by no means a spiritual
Master. I would not advise accepting anyone's claim of being a
"Master," simply because they can talk to the dead or angels, exhibit
psychic phenomena, enter your dreams, etc... Being psychic does not equal
being spiritual. You can easily be one and not the other... The psychic
realms stop, but the God planes continue. On the God planes, only love exists.

I think that there is definitely a time and a place for psychics and for Readers with clarity. A good, reputable, Spiritual Reader can help you through a difficult spot or to get perspective on a situation that you may be too close to, to see clearly. What can become a problem is when a person begins to rely on the Reader more than on self. Or when an unscrupulous Reader takes advantage of a client's vulnerability. Habitual dependence on another person does not promote spiritual growth, it hinders it. If a person is confused about their life, it is a good idea to learn how to gain clarity for themselves, rather than go to a Reader repeatedly. When you feel unsure about yourself and your ability to see things clearly in a situation, it can be difficult to believe in yourself or your own capability. It can be easy to fall into a trap of relying on some outside source to gain information from. A good Reader, with integrity, will assist you, empower you, and encourage you to find your own connections and answers. A wise Reader will not tell you too much, or make things too easy for you; neither will your Guardian Angel. Your Angels and Guides are there to help you, not to do everything for you! They support your processes and give you insights into a situation, but they do not tell you what to do. I personally, do not do readings anymore. I have always been totally set against fostering dependence. I try to help folks to gain some insight into their lives and past lives, so that they will have the ability to use their own inner resources to understand a situation and then to feel good about their ability to rely upon themselves. During some sessions, I have acted as a type of biofeedback for a person, giving them instant validation and fine tuning of their interaction with their Angels and Guides, so that they rapidly gain confidence in and control of their own abilities. It is a matter of practice and cultivating clarity, awareness and patience. You learn to set aside your doubts, fears and concerns for the moments that you are doing the Reading. Eventually, you can learn to ask your Guardian Angel, or your "Inner Master" for your answers. This is a tremendous experience and will accelerate your spiritual growth. A good psychic or intuitive ability is not enough. One must cultivate clarity. Clarity is one of the benefits of learning to communicate with Angels, "Guides," Masters and your High Self. There is a saying: "Own your power or it will own you." YOU own your own power. When you own your power you neither give it away nor let someone take it and control you with it. It is true freedom. Manipulation, on either your part or from others towards you, becomes a thing of the past. You begin to experience compassionate detachment, which leads to self-love and joy. What's in your way? Strong desires and strong fears are in your way! Your feelings, judgments, doubts and expectations are in the way. Try choosing the issues and feelings that you think may be standing in the way of your communication. I developed the "Angels in Action" cards for this purpose and believe that most people will find them to be useful for this type of focusing. Or, you can try making a list of all of the feelings such as unworthiness, fear, disbelief, etc. and then start to deal with them to begin to clear the way for the information. If you have doubts and judgments about yourself, it will interfere with the process. Try to let go of your expectations of what you think communication with angels is going to be like (It will almost always be something different that what you expect!) and allow it to happen.
